The Eugene Makerspace has established two new roles that trusted, established members can take on to help EMS run as smoothly, safely, and sustainably as possible. Keyholders and Leads pay the same as other members and take on additional responsibilities for the good of the community.
Keyholders
The Keyholder Program was created to address safety concerns from landlords and members. A limited number of trusted and established members hold keys to the space at 3890 West 1st Avenue, and share the responsibility of “host” for all open hours. Current keyholders include the Board of Directors and Area Leads. Keyholders may host additional events and open the space outside of posted open hours upon request, or when working on their own projects.
Leads
Leads are charged with tracking build progress and eventually maintenance of each area, to prevent them falling into disrepair. Leads facilitate (and are encouraged to delegate tasks related to) training, maintenance, and other logistics that keep their area running smoothly. Leads answer questions about their area and welcome volunteers to help tackle day to day upkeep. Members needn’t be Leads to contribute significantly to EMS — in fact, your help is vital to our mission.
