Eugene Makerspace benefits greatly from generous donations from the community. To simplify the process for donors and EMS leadership, and to make sure expectations are aligned, we’ve established some new guidelines.
About Tool Loans
While we accept some loans, EMS runs most smoothly when we own most of our equipment outright. This cuts down on hurt feelings or liability if equipment is accidentally damaged, and prevents unexpected gaps in our offerings to members when a frequently used loaned item is abruptly recalled. If we do choose to accept equipment on loan, however, the following information must be provided ahead of time.
- Expected loan period
- Contact info for who to return equipment to
- Signed liability waver for accidental damage
- Signed agreement that the equipment will be sold if no longer needed and not picked up within 90 days
About Tool Donations
Donated equipment becomes property of Eugene Makerspace. We try our best to make use of all donations we can, but there are a few scenarios in which we might decide to sell the equipment, using the funds towards other EMS needs. These include:
- Equipment goes unused for a period of time
- Equipment falls into disrepair
- Equipment is upgraded
We prefer equipment in good working order, to prevent taking up space that could be used for making while someone has time to make repairs.
The equipment lead for the area the equipment pertains to will be notified of the request, and we’ll get in touch via email to let you know if we can make use of the item.
