Press Release – September 15, 2024 – Eugene Makerspace Fire

Press Release – September 15, 2024

The Eugene Maker Space Seeks Community Support Following Fire

Eugene, OR – Early this morning, a fire destroyed our community shop.

Founded just under 14 years ago, the Eugene Makerspace has been a place for artists, inventors, woodworkers, the mechanically curious, and other members of the global maker community to work on projects together or alone.

Members contributed or loaned tools to create a shared workshop where anyone could create things regardless of income. We provided a place for people to modify and make things out of wood, with 3D printers, use laser cutters, even welding and other metal work. Today, that place is gone.

The Eugene Fire Department responded to reports of a blaze early this morning and were able to extinguish it quickly, but most of the shop and everything in it has been destroyed.

We are heartbroken.

This shop has been a labor of love for so many over the years, a safe place for Makers of all types to collaborate or work peacefully and to recover from this disaster, we’re asking for community assistance.
